Final Audio Interview: Guias – Photography

Here is my feedback and blog for the final part of this assignment after the feedback and editing from the draft. After reading through all of the feedback and going back and re listening to my project I totally understood what everybody meant by the loudness and the background noise. I went back into it and I decided to edit out my parts of the interview and I redid them using the microphone instead of just my air pods and I think that it helped so much more better it was more clear and it was more interesting to listen to. I then went in and cut out parts of the interview from the initial drafts and repurposed the interview to make it shorter and more like a story. I believe that in my first part of my draft audio I don’t think that I was able to do the music going in and coming out of the interview without it sounding like it was overpowering so I went in, and I lowered to a fade when ending the interview and I picked a different song or music sound in the background which I think sounded better. I honestly went through and tried to find a photography clicking sound but all of the clicking sounds sounded terrible and I didn’t want to take away from the actual interview process, so I decided to go with the ambient sound that I chose. While I have mentioned in previous assignments that I’m not as comfortable with as with Adobe as I wish I was I think that this final portion came out better than I expected, and I feel like I’m learning and catching on to everything. I really hope that you enjoyed listening to it my feelings are still the same on the two-minute portion was really hard because the interview was so intriguing and interesting to me that breaking it down into only two minutes was probably the hardest part of the whole assignment. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. This project I found was super intriguing. When I started this project, I knew that I wanted something that is something I was also interested in, and I follow a bunch of people on social media who picked up photography during COVID and I just think that pictures have come such a long way that I knew I wanted to do something involving this type of art. I have not used Adobe audition a lot in the past I think in one of my other classes during my bachelors I used it but it’s not something that I used a lot. I use voice memos on my iPhone for most of my recordings that I’ve done throughout school, so I continue to use that it’s been the most comfortable for me and then I just saved it and put it into Adobe audition, and I started editing it. When I was trying to figure out who I was going to interview I did reach out to a few people that I follow on Instagram that live in the area I am in but no one really got back to me so I went to work and we were in the process of hiring a photographer for a new add that we are going to be doing for our summer program coming and I remember seeing him come in and out of the office a few times so I just asked him when he walked by me if he had anytime during the week if he would feel comfortable doing an interview with me. He actually agreed which I was super excited for and we set up a time and I set up some questions to ask. The one thing that I struggled with is the two minute mark. I was so interested in what he was saying and answering the questions that I found it really hard to keep it all within two minutes and try to edit out the questions, like the ones that I thought were important and needed to be in the recording but his answer was just too long to put it in there so I had to cut a lot of the interview. I used the cutting tool in Adobe and I tried to mix it while trying to put music in the background. I really wanted to try different types of music but I found one that seemed very like calming. It was like a calming interview we were in a room where there wasn’t much noise, and I had a microphone hooked up to him that I bought off of Amazon. I did not like the way that my voice sounded because I had my air pods in and so he was using the microphone, and I had my air pod, so the sound was different and it’s something that I’ll probably fix for the final. I wish that it could have been a little longer. I also felt like while I was editing it and trying to mix it and do a sound at the end, so it didn’t just like cut out it felt rushed. I don’t think that an interview with something that is an inspiration to us should be so rushed but these are all things that I’m learning, and I will try to narrow down my questions and narrow down the answers for our final portion of the project. I’m looking forward to doing more editing and getting more feedback so it can be my best project.
